There are so many marvelous things about the trip to the 70s. This isn’t a flashback episode but a rouse in order to get Harold to cooperate, which makes it all the more fun. Martha gets a chance to shine. While it seems like she is going over the top and doing too much, Castle and Beckett actually are grateful for the scripts and actors. Alexis even has a cameo. What was your favorite part about taking everyone back into the 70s?
As it turns out, Harold was only faking it. Sure, at first he thought it was still the 70s, but then he realized what was going on. This is a great twist for him. The writers do a good job of really exploring Harold. At first, he is mainly serves as a source of comedy, but then, the writers delve deeper. What did you think of Harold?
Gates is gone for part of it, but the writers don’t clarify how the power shifting in her absence. At first, it seems like the guy doing the briefing is the one in charge, but later, Castle makes a reference to Beckett being the ranking officer. Perhaps the guy at the beginning was simply someone who was knowledgeable of the crime families in the 70s. The writers could have done more with this. Either they could have focused a little more on Beckett trying take over Gates’ role, or they could have shown more of the temporary person in charge.
