Steven Feinberg, executive director of The Rhode Island Film & Television Office has confirmed Feb. 26 reports that Oscar-nominated director Wes Anderson’s new film Moonrise Kingdom will be shot this spring in Rhode Island.

The announcement comes two days before a scheduled State House hearing in which Governor Lincoln Chafee will propose ending Rhode Island’s film tax-credit program on July 1.
Aside from the confirmation news, LDI Casting, a local casting agency announced that Ed Norton, Frances McDormand and Jason Schwartzman will join the already stellar cast of Bruce Willis, Tilda Swinton and Bill Murray.
Feinberg also stated that filming will begin this spring on Aquidneck Island and in “numerous locations around the state.”
Moonrise Kingdom revolves around two young lovers who take off from their New England hometown, causing locals to embark on a search for them.
Anderson’s credits include Rushmore, The Royal Tenenbaums, The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou and the recent animated film The Fantastic Mr. Fox, which was nominated for an Oscar.
Anderson, who has written his previous eight films, will likely pen the script.
