Casting update for FOX drama 'Gotham'

A television pilot based on the life of Gotham City Police Commissioner James Gordon was green lit at the beginning of the year, and now several main roles on the series have been cast. Comingsoon.net posted the news that five characters have been cast on the new pilot, which follows the journey of a young James Gordon in Gotham City.

The role of James Gordon will be played by actor Benjamin McKenzie, who is well known for the role of outcast Ryan Atwood on the teen drama "The O.C." and as officer Ben Sherman on the cop drama "Southland," in addition to many film roles. Actor Donal Logue will portray the role of Harvey Bullock, who is the partner of Jim Gordon and a former mentor. Logue most recently appeared on the FX drama "Sons of Anarchy" as the tough United States Marshall Lee Toric.

Soem popular villains for the comic book series about the Caped Crusader will also be making appearances, including Oswald Cobblepot. Cobblepott is the real name of the sociopath The Penguin, and will be played by actor Robin Lord Taylor. The actor most recently played the role of survivor Sam on "The Walking Dead."

Although a young Bruce Wayne has yet to be cast, his butler has been. Actor Sean Pertwee will portray the role of Wayne's butler, an ex-Marine who is fiercely loyal to the family and raises Bruce after his parents death. The show has also cast Zabryna Guevara as Captain Essen, Gordon's boss at the Gotham City Police Department and Erin Richards will play Barbara Kean, Gordon's fiancee.
