Casting Rumors: Emma Watson as Disney princesses

Emma Watson will be appearing in the upcoming film Noah, but any other casting rumors right now are pure speculation unless the star or the studios openly announce her appearance.

Rumors have been circulating that the female lead of the Harry Potter series, Emma Watson will be taking on several roles in 2015 portraying Disney princesses. Recent unnamed reports have tied her to playing adaptions of Beauty and the Beast as Belle, the title role of Cinderella, and Ariel in The Little Mermaid, supposedly opposite Daniel Radcliffe who will play Prince Eric.

While apparently the star's role in Cinderella has been allegedly declined by Watson (if ever offered at all), the conjecture surrounding Beauty and Mermaid has to be taken with a grain of salt as we all know what happens when we get too excited from speculation alone.

Watson was apparently seen leaving an aquatics facility this past weekend in Los Angeles, where, it is widely assumed, she was training for her role in several disciplines including SCUBA, synchronized swimming, and diving. Although, this could just as easily have been for a personal day as it could training for a role.

There are a lot of articles out there suggesting which songs Emma is set to perform, and what kinds of things she'll be doing, and if made, The Little Mermaid will be a faithful reproduction of the 1989 animated film. Again, it's easy to make assumptions, but you should always assume rumors are false rather than true.

Personally, I'd love to see Emma Watson perform in The Little Mermaid, but a faithful reproduction of the actual story, while, though tragic, was infinitely less censored than the Disney version. Likewise, I'd love to see a similar instance in Beauty and the Beast, although after the string of performances in the last decade encompassing that story, it might come off as more cliche than it is exciting to see it spat out again, even with such a prestigious leading lady.

In actual news, however, Watson just appeared in The Bling Ring last year, and has a significant role in the 2014 production Noah, so if you need your dose of Watson, look no further.
