Variety is reporting that James Gandolfini is set to join the cast of Geoffrey Fletcher’s Violet & Daisy. The film about two teenage assassins named Violet and Daisy, who are hired to kill a target only to find out the target is not what they expected it to be. Saoirse Ronan and Carey Mulligan were set to star as the titular teenage assassins, but Mulligan has dropped out to star in Nicolas Winding Refn’s Drive and Slashfilm is reporting that Alexis Bledel is rumored to replace her.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Gillian Anderson, Dominic West, Rosamund Pike, and newcomer Daniel Kaluuya are joining Rowan Atkins in Johnny English Reborn, which is scheduled to shoot for 13 weeks.
In the sequel to the 2003 action comedy, Johnny English finds himself embroiled in trying to stop a plot by a group of international assassins hunting down the Chinese premier.
Oliver Parker is set to direct the film using a script written by Hamish McColl and William Davies.
Variety is reporting that Christian Slater is set to star in the independent horror thriller Playback as a sinister cop who is an important part in exposing s small town’s deepest darkest secret. It has been a couple of years since we last saw Slater in a film, whether or not this is the film to bring him out of the gutter remains to be seen. The film also stars Johnny Pacar, Toby Hemingway, Jonathan Keltz, Alessandra Torresani, Ambyr Childers and Daryl "Chill" Mitchell.
