Casting news for 'Guardians of the Galaxy'

Big news is coming from Latino Review today about the upcoming Marvel film “Guardians of the Galaxy.”

Director James Gunn (“Slither”) is on the hunt for some of the most important characters of the intergalactic team and a couple unexpected names have surfaced.

Jim Carrey (“Kick-Ass 2”) and Adam Sandler (“Big Daddy”) are both being looked at to voice certain characters that will be all CG: either Rocket Raccoon (a talking violent raccoon) or Groot (a giant tree).

As disappointing as Sandler has been lately he really handles voices well, and I think he would make a perfect Rocket Raccoon, and hopefully Jim signs on for Groot as he has made some intimidating, but awkward, voices in the past.

Adding to that is the news that Wes Bentley (“The Hunger Games”), Chris Lowell (“The Help”), and Cam Gigandet (“Pandorum”) are all going in to read for the starring role, Star-Lord.

This sticks to Marvel’s typical strategy of pairing big names up with unknowns in order to keep costs down, and I think this is quickly becoming one of my most anticipated films of 2014.
