Casting news and spoiler alerts: Rylan in, Barash out at 'General Hospital' (Photos)

Marcy Rylan returned to “The Young and the Restless” recently on a recurring basis as Abby Newman. Soap Opera Digest reported on March 6 that the actress, now known as Emme Rylan, will depart “Y&R” and head to “General Hospital” as the new LuLu Spencer. Rylan will replace Julie Marie Berman, who announced her departure from “GH” last week. Rylan’s first airdate is not known at this time.

In other “General Hospital” casting news, Soap Opera Digest reported on March 5 that Brandon Barash announced his exit from Port Charles, the fictional town in which “General Hospital” is set. Barash humorously tweeted the news of his departure to fans:

“With a bittersweet, heavy heart I announce my time at GH has come to an end, as I have chosen to move on&pursue my NBA career. I love u all.”

Reportedly, but unconfirmed, real-life love interest, Kristen Storms, who portrays Maxie Jones, responded, “They’re lowering basketball rims in arenas across the country as we speak…”

Brandon Barash joined “General Hospital” in 2007 as mobster Johnny Zacchara.
