The feature film adaptation of Stephenie Meyer's "The Host" is now finally in pre-production with filming set to start in January, 2012. The talented Academy Award nominee Saoirse Ronan has dropped out of "The Hobbit" to take on dual roles in "The Host". Auditions for the film's other starring roles and supporting roles is getting underway. The day player actors, extras, stand-ins, and photo doubles will be cast just prior to the principal photography start date and will continue throughout filming.
Academy Award nominee Andrew Niccol is now officially on board to direct "The Host" from an adapted screenplay he wrote himself. At one point Niccol became busy his upcoming thriller "In Time" starring Justin Timberlake and Amanda Seyfried, and Susanna White had briefly signed on to direct "The Host". However Niccol has freed up his schedule and has now been confirmed to direct the film after writing the script a several months ago.
