While the stage that began at a single church has expanded all across the world, the message in the music by Casting Crowns to spread the love of Christ remains the same. Led by Mark Hall the Grammy and Dove Award winning Christian band will bring their ministry to a concert at the Hobart Arena on February 17 as part of their ‘Come to the Well’ tour.
“We come to our music with a real world approach and show in our lyrics that we aren’t perfect but can still share and receive the love of Jesus Christ,” said Hall.
From an early age when he would sing with his father, a minister of music, Hall has served as a witness for others. While a youth pastor in Daytona Beach he formed a band which after a move to Georgia became the Casting Crowns. Devoted to ministry, Hall continues to serve as youth pastor at the Eagles Landing Baptist Church in Georgia. The success and fame of the Casting Crowns has not changed the bands ways as they still lead worship at the church’s Sunday morning contemporary service.
Their touring schedule, which has taken them all over the U.S and abroad, to places such as New Zealand, Australia and Singapore, is usually arranged for them to be back home by Sunday. No matter their location, the Casting Crowns take great pride in the change to guide others in their faith.
“We think that all of us are supposed to be leading others to Christ, whether we are at work, school or at play. There is no big special requirement in showing the hope of Jesus, we just happen to do it through music but there are many other ways,” said Hall.
Their voices have reached millions as each of their albums, including the current release of, Come to the Well, have all been hugely successful. The albums is filled with songs that both challenge and encourage and challenge believers in their walk, including “Courageous,” showcased in the film with the same title. have all gone gold. In addition, legions of others have been exposed to their music by it being sung in worship services all through the nation.
Whether at their home church or on tour, the passion that Casting Crowns exuberates doesn’t change. Hall has fun performing and enjoys meeting people. The play lists for their concerts spans through their entire career including hits like, ‘If we are the Body,’ ‘Voice of Truth,’ and ‘East to West.’
The sole purpose for each song is to expose others to the benefits of being in a relationship with Christ and that anyone can be included. “With our songs we talk about our weaknesses and let people see that Christ can still live with us,” said Hall.
The winners of multiple Dove awards, which is Christian music’s equivalent to the Grammy’s, including Group and Album of the year, Casting Crowns has by far exceeded their expectations.
When Hall started as just a church band, he never dreamed of being a national success.
“I never had a clue this would happen, it’s been a God thing,” he said.
Joining Casting Crowns on the tour is two time GRAMMY nominee Mathew West, Royal Tailor whose a four member band that ministers with a mix of pop, R&B, hip hop and rock. Also along is talented newcomer Lindsay McCaul.
