Castellanos to handle port affairs

A new period begins at the port without Scott Peters who was lost to the U.S. Congress. New port commissioner Rafael Castellanos will take over the work planning port development and meting tenants demands at the waterfront on San Diego Bay.

Castellanos was picked from among nominees chosen by each councilmember on the city council. Councilmembers approved David Alvarez's nominee for the appointment on Monday, January 7th.

The former general counsel to MANA de San Diego joins the port's official ranks after doing work on commercial real estate and business transactional law at a law firm. Castellanos is a member of the directors boards at San Diego La Raza Lawyers Association.

Thee Board of Port Commissioners began work this week after being sworn in on Tuesday, January 8th.
