Casteele is a heavy turret-building machine in Realm of the Titans, a strength hero able to turn into a turret himself with a potent ultimate ability. Casteele plays very differently than other strength characters, but has the ability to carry a team by providing splash damage fire support from the back row when battles begin.
Casteele can set up free firing turrets which are powerful for creeping, laning, pushing, and jungling. These turrets do sort of trail off powerwise as the game goes on, but they can still be useful through detonation or acting as “budget wards”. Casteele is rather unwieldy and cumbersome in regards to maneuverability and mobility, but as a long range rocket launcher Casteele can cut down entire teams in short order.
Casteele’s skills and abilities turn him into a potent pusher and long range death dealer –
Gun Turret: As the name suggests, this sets up a gun turret. While not overly powerful, multiple turrets can easily control a lane even under significant harassment. Turrets can be used to tank jungle creeps, guard the secret shops, and push up lanes all while farming and punishing heroes that get too close.
Detonate: If opponents are trying to chase or run away, stepping too close to one of Casteele’s turrets presents an opportunity to blow it up, doing area of effect damage and a far more significant slow.
While many smart opponents will simply charge Casteele or run away during his ultimate, this ability can make escape from large battles difficult while increasing Casteele’s chances of landing a power packed punch with siege mode.
Ballistic Boost: Gives turrets extra range and increases Casteele’s defense, a nice passive to keep Casteele alive and farming.
Siege Mode: Casteele’s defining skill turns him into a very slow tower of power, turning his melee attacks into long range bombs with 100% splash damage. With a few damage and attack speed items in your toolkit, siege mode can destroy creeps, towers, and players with ease.
Utilization of siege mode will slow down your movespeed considerably, so opponents will often try to gank you or run away when they see your fiery blasts start to rain down, so standing in back of your team and cutting loose is often advised for safety.
Pairing slow effects/frenzy effects with siege mode can help deliver a few extra blows, and that’s all Casteele needs to finish the job. Gun turrets help Casteele get the cash he needs to be an efficient carry, but he remains a slow moving unable to escape target if multiple players decide to assault him at the same time.
Effective use of Casteele requires the player to know exactly who can potentially show up in any given teamfight, and staying out of the melee mess and providing heavy backup via artillery.
Without an escape or hard disable, Casteele can be challenging to get going, but can carry harder than many agi heroes if allowed to farm up. While the basics of Casteele gameplay are very simple, being at the right place at the right time packing your long range roaster is the tactic to master in Realm of the Titans.
