CBS has just announced a few minutes ago the 18 competitors for the upcoming 29th season of Survivor, "Survivor: San Juan del Sur." As most of us know, this Fall edition of the show will be the second "Blood vs. Water" format, with pairs of loved ones competing for the one million dollar prize and the title of Sole Survivor.

All 18 players are new to Survivor, but a few of them are not new faces. Controversial former MLB relief pitcher John Rocker will appear on the show, competing with his girlfriend, Julie McGee, a model and owner of a spray tan business. Also, twins Natalie and Nadiya Anderson, who both competed on seasons 21 and 24 of "The Amazing Race" will be included. Not a household name by any means, stage actor Reed Kelly (who appeared in the Broadway Spider-Man play) and his boyfriend, Josh Canfield are also set to appear on "Survivor."

Rounding out the cast of newbies is Drew and Alec Christy, brothers from Winter Park, Florida, married couple Jeremy and Val Collins (Jeremy a firefighter and Val a police officer), college sweethearts Jon Misch and Jaclyn Shultz (Jon from Waterford, Michigan), father and son duo Keith and Wes Nale (both firefighters), mother and daughter Missy Payne (47) and Baylor Wilson (20) and father and daughter Dale and Kelley Wentworth.

More info on these new contestants will definitely be forthcoming as we get closer to the start of "Survivor: San Juan del Sur," which is set to premiere with a 90-minute episode on Wednesday, Sept 24 at 8 pm.

Also announced along with the new cast is something sure to become a controversial topic amongst long-time fans of the show: The return of Exile Island, with a twist According to the press release:

This season marks the return of Exile Island, where each week two loved ones square off against one another in a battle that will send the loser to isolation on Exile Island, while the winner receives reward for his/her Tribe. However, the winner will also have to choose a tribemate to accompany their loved one to Exile Island.
