Cast of Beatles play 'Backbeat' to give free live show at Hollywood record store

The cast of “Backbeat: The Musical,” which opened earlier this month at the Ahmanson Theater in Los Angeles, will give a free performance of music from the show at Amoeba Records in Hollywood on February 4, Rhino Records announced Monday.

The cast will also sign CDs of the “Backbeat” soundtrack just released by Rhino Records.

The 20-track CD features four songs written by John Lennon and Paul McCartney and other songs covered by the Beatles both on record and in their pre-fame days in Hamburg, where “Backbeat” takes place. The collection features cast members Daniel Healy (Paul McCartney) on vocals, guitar and bass; Andrew Knott (John Lennon) on vocals and guitar; and Oliver Bennett (Pete Best) on drums and vocals.

Leanne Best, the niece of former Beatle Pete Best, plays Astrid Kirchherr in the production.
