Director David O. Russell was on hand to pay tribute to the amazing work his cast from "American Hustle." He started by saying "Christian Bale makes it look so easy because he disappears into the character so deeply. That takes a special gift. These are all amazing people that put their hearts on the line to tell amazing stories of survival and reinvention."

Most of the main cast was on hand to accept the award. Missing tonight were Christian Bale and Jennifer Lawrence. Bradley Cooper took to the podium to accept the award "you got just a little taste to what it is like to work with David O. Russell. That is why everyone returns to work with him again. You know you are going to go to a place that is scary and vulnerable and they don't think they can really pull off, and he is always standing there saying 'just jump, I've got you.'"

Amy Adams and Jeremy Renner also said thank you to the director and crew to "American Hustle."

“David O. Russell has created a viscerally powerful film,” said Festival Chairman Harold Matzner. “'American Hustle' grabs you from the start and is populated by a group of eminently believable characters as brought to life by this brilliant cast. The Palm Springs International Film Festival is proud to present the entire cast of 'American Hustle' with our 2014 Ensemble Performance Award.”

Previous recipients of the Ensemble Performance Award include the cast of the Oscar-winning film "Argo," and casts from the Oscar nominated films "The Social Network" and "Babel."

"American Hustle" was just named the top film of 2013 from New York Critics Circle and is set to receive multiple nominations from the Golden Globes and SAG Awards. The film is a fictional tale set in the 1970's featuring the Abscam operation. Actress Jennifer Lawrence is getting huge Oscar buzz for her performance and just might take home a back to back Oscar win come next March.

"American Hustle" will be released in a limited basis on Friday, Dec. 13, 2013. The film is rated R for pervasive language, some sexual content and brief violence and has a run-time of two hours and 18 minutes.
