Cast announced for 'Scream' TV series

For those who are interested in the new "Scream" TV series will like to know that today, Aug. 5, that Entertainment Weekly reported that the cast for the series has been announced. The hip slasher films have a large cult following, there are four movies from the series and Neve Campbell was the main protagonist, Sidney Prescott.

The cast of the series is going to be actors, Willa Fitzgerald, Amy Forsyth, John Karna, Carlson Young, and Amadeus Serafini.The pilot episode will be centered on a viral YouTube video that captures Audrey in the middle of a murder and the town's troubled past.

The new TV series pilot was ordered my MTV back in May of last year. Jill Blotevogel is the show's showrunner, Jay Beattie and Dan Dworkin wrote the pilot script. Jamie Travis will be directing the pilot episode. The series is going to take a new twist on the Scream Franchise and Bob Weinstein, the co-Chairman of the Weinstein Company and Dimension Films commented that "Scream" was one of Dimension's biggest and treasured franchises. He also commented that they are thriller to embark on a new chapter of the series.

The series of "Scream" first came about in 1996. It was a hit once it was released and many years later the film has a 80% fresh, while "Scream 2" has a 81%. "Scream 3," was the lowest of the series and not favored to the critics and fans. The last movie to come from the series was in 2011 with "Scream 4." Along with the three original cast members (Neve Campbell, David Arquette, and Courtney Cox) Emma Roberts and Hayden Panettiere starred in the movie too. All films were directed by Wes Craven.

It will be interesting to see how the new MTV series does with audiences and if the "Scream" TV will be a cult hit like the movies.
