Author Cassandra Clare is one of the busiest writers in the fiction publishing world. Her wildly popular series, The Mortal Instruments reaches it's end this May but she has three more series scheduled included a middle grade series co-written by Holly Black. Black is a longtime friend, collaborator and critique partner to Clare and many can't wait to see what magic these two will create in the Magisterium. USA Today revealed the cover for the first book, "The Iron Trial" due out this September 9. In addition, they shared an exclusive excerpt.

From U.S.A. Today:

The five-book series, aimed at readers 8-12, features students at the Magisterium, an academy for those with a propensity toward magic. Clare says she had “a certain trepidation that I wouldn’t be able to capture a middle-grade voice, since I’ve only written for older teens. Working with Holly helped iron that out because she’s a middle-grade expert.”

What do you think of the cover and excerpt? Are you excited to see Clare take on a middle grade tale?
