Last year's Washington Cask Beer Festival saw record crowds stream into its new home at the Seattle Center Exhibition Hall. And with more than 40 Washington breweries that will be lining the hall this year to show off their beers racked in cask, you can bet this weekend's festival (March 22) will once again be packed with enthusiastic fans of this unfiltered brew.
The yearly event, which supports the ongoing advocacy work of the Washington Brewers Guild, showcases one-of-a-kind handcrafted cask-condition beers that are traditionally served from a cask without additional nitrogen or carbon dioxide pressure.
There will be two sessions for beer lovers to choose from this Saturday. The first session kicks off at 12 noon and runs until 4 pm (last pour is at 3:30 pm). If you are more inclined to enjoy your cask brew later in the evening the doors for the second session of the fest open at 6 pm with last call taking place at 9:30 pm.
Tickets for each session run $45 at the door ($40 in advance) and include a commemorative tasting glass and up to 25 sample tastes. Of course, you are encouraged to enjoy responsibly and if you happen to bring along a designated driver they get in for just five bucks.
