Casino snakes report said to be a hoax: No slithering creatures at Sands

Rumors of casino snakes at the Sands Casino Resort Bethlehem have been spreading like wildfire. The reports are, according to the Express-Times on Jan. 28, completely false. Even state police are speaking out and saying there are no casino snakes at Sands.

The claims that there were snakes at the casino seem to link back to a social media post. The rumors came from someone who supposedly went to the doctor with a bite, and the doctor allegedly said it was a snakebite and asked if the patient had been to the Sands Casino Resort Bethlehem. Things spread from that post.

The casino issued a statement saying that there have been no reports of incidents with snakes at their property. No snakes have been seen on surveillance, and nobody present has had any issues. A spokesperson for the resort, Julia Corwin, says “there would be no way that we couldn't know about it” if the casino had snakes.

Even Trooper William Ortiz with the state police says that while the report is strange, there are “absolutely no snakes in this place.” It seems that once again, many can see the power of social media when one post insinutating an issue spreads like wildfire like this. Luckily for the Sands Casino Resort Bethlehem, there are no casino snakes ready to take a bite out of visitors.
