Casinos in the the South Bend and Southwest Michigan regions are beginning to roll out their holiday plans, making this a good time to start marking your calendars in order to take advantage of all they have to offer. Most Midwestern casinos ramp up their promotions and giveaways during the holiday season to keep the interest of players who are spending their money on holiday shopping rather than coining-in on slot machines, and gamblers who are spending their time at holiday gatherings with family rather than at the blackjack table.
This time of year offers a great opportunity to take advantage of some stellar free play and cash drawings, as well as hotel stay and play deals at area gambling establishments. Keep your eyes on your direct mail pieces for these great holiday deals starting with the November mailings, which should hit homes in late October. Most smart marketing directors will try to push play towards those days which are traditionally slow, such as the days around Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Eve/Day. Black Friday, which was traditionally slow, has become a hotter day in recent years, as people hit the stores early for deals and then roll into the casinos to try their luck there, so some properties like to target this day with player specials as well.
In addition to holiday promotions, there's plenty of holiday entertainment on tap at casinos in the region. The first announcement is a concert date for Kenny Loggins, who earned his singing fame with multiple movie soundtrack hits such as "Danger Zone" from the film Top Gun, "I'm Alright" from Caddyshack, and the main title theme from the Kevin Bacon (original and best) version of Footloose. He appears at Four Winds Casino New Buffalo in their Silver Creek Event Center on Tuesday, Dec. 31 at 10:30 p.m. EST. Tickets are on sale now. Contact the casino or Ticketmaster for more information.
Blue Chip Casino in Michigan City, Indiana hasn't posted all of their entertainment offerings yet, but their website reveals they will have a few holiday events in their Stardust Event Center. On Dec. 6 they are advertising a "Mix, Mingle and Jingle Party" at 6: 30 p.m., and on Dec. 12 they will host "Music and Mistletoe" at 11 a.m.
FireKeepers in Battle Creek has virtually nothing listed on their website for the holidays as of yet, but the Gin Blossoms are scheduled to perform on Saturday, Dec. 21 at 9 p.m. Tickets are cheap, starting at $10, so it might be a nice walk down memory lane for those who enjoyed their hit songs back in the mid-90s.
Gun Lake Casino has little in the way of holiday entertainment posted, but check back here again in the coming weeks for a recap of the casino holiday fun at that property as news is released, as well as details of the holiday promotions and entertainment on tap at every South Bend/Southwest Michigan area casino summed up all in one nice package right here at the South Bend Blackjack Examiner.
