The Casey Anthony trial got underway today (Monday) in Florida, three years after 2 year old Caylee Anthony was first reported missing. Jury selection started more than 100 miles away from the Orlando courtroom where Caylee's now 25 year old mother will go on trial for the toddler's murder. Intense media coverage of the case, which gained Casey Anthony headlines and sudden fame in 2008, caused the judge to move jury selection.
The judge in the case is hoping a pool of 20 jurors and alternates can be seated by the end of the week so that the Casey Anthony murder trial can get underway next week. Jurors are being asked if they'd be willing to consider the death penalty for Anthony. Those who object are being dismissed.
Casey Anthony has denied she killed her daughter whose body was found about a quarter mile from the home she shared with her mother, uncle, and grandparents. The little girl was first reported missing by her grandmother - Casey Anthony's mother - in June 2008. Casey Anthony claims her daughter was kidnapped by a babysitter.
