Casey Anthony: Psych transcripts unsealed, reveals surprise testimony

ORLANDO, Florida (Isabelle Zehnder reporting) -- On Tuesday, Judge Belvin Perry unsealed transcripts of two depositions conducted by mental health experts who concluded Casey has no mental illness.

Casey is the 25-year-old mom who was acquitted of killing her then 2-year-old daughter, Caylee. Caylee went missing in July 2008. Her remains were found in a wooded area near her home in December 2008. In 2011, her mother, Casey, was tried for the first degree murder of Caylee.

Prior to her trial Casey was questioned extensively by the two mental-health experts who conducted psychological evaluations. The Orlando Sentinel reports that the documents allow Casey to speak for herself and tell her story, something that never happened at her trial.

Some of the claims made by Casey in the depositions include:

  • She was “date-raped” at a party when she was 18 and became pregnant
  • She doesn’t know who Caylee’s father was
  • She was not involved romantically with anyone before she got pregnant
  • She attended a party, blacked out, and believes her drink might have been “spiked”
  • Her father, George Anthony, sexually abused her for years
  • She suspected he might be Caylee’s father, DNA disproved that theory
  • Regardless how she became pregnant, she never considered abortion or adoption
  • She feared her father would sexually molest Caylee, was hesitant to leave them alone
  • She told both doctors she woke up without Caylee in mid-June 2008, then her father showing her a wet, lifeless child

Psychiatrist Dr. Jeffrey Danzinger and psychologist Dr. William Weitz were asked by Casey’s defense team to evaluate her, but they were later removed from the witness list by the defense.

Following a request from the Orlando Sentinel the depositions, that had been sealed, were unsealed and made available by Judge Belvin.

The doctors concluded it was the perception of Casey that her father had something to do with the death of her daughter. “It’s clear that she believes that George either harmed and/or took the life of Caylee,” Dr. Weitz said.

The Weitz deposition states that after first being yelled at, Casey Anthony said, "Dad took her from me, said all's going to be okay. Daddy will take care of it. Although she believed the child was deceased, part of her wanted her daughter to be alive."

George Anthony vehemently denies allegations he sexually molested his daugther.

Both experts found Casey suffered from no mental illness.

This is contrary to Criminal Psychologist Michelle Ward who told HLN’s Dr. Drew Wednesday evening she believes Casey is a sociopath.
