Casey Anthony news: George and Cindy Anthony donate new shoes to charity
Although Cindy Anthony had announced she was going to donate the shoes of her slain granddaughter, Caylee Anthony, to a charity shoe drive over the weekend, she and her husband George Anthony donated several pairs of brand new shoes to the organization instead.
Cindy’s daughter, Casey Anthony now sits behind bars, accused of murdering Caylee in the summer of 2008. Cindy has been an ardent supporter of Casey, maintaining the stance that Casey is innocent of the crime.
Doris Patalano, the founder of Children of Love told news media she received threatening calls and emails due to Cindy’s announcement -- some from people saying they would protest Saturday’s charity drive.
Although Patalano stated she has known Cindy since before Caylee’s murder, she did not want Cindy or George to be involved with the event. She also feared it would hurt future donations to the charity that helps underprivileged and orphaned children in Central America and central Florida.
Patalano now reports that the Anthonys dropped off six pairs of shoes and a bag of socks -- all brand new items not belonging to Caylee.
According to WFTV, despite the threats received by Patalano, the event took place without a hitch and no one was seen protesting.
Casey is slated to be tried for Caylee’s murder in May 2011.
