On Thursday, September 12, an announcement was made that Casey Anthony’s plan to avoid testifying in the civil trial against her wasn’t going to happen. Casey Anthony will be forced to testify under oath in the civil suit filed by Zenaida Gonzalez regarding the disappearance and death of her daughter, Caylee.
Zenaida Gonzalez has filed a civil suit against Casey Anthony for defamation. Anthony had reported to law enforcement authorities that her two year-old daughter Caylee had been kidnapped by a nanny named Zenaida Fernandez-Gonzalez.
In reality, the nanny Anthony named as her daughter’s kidnapper, doesn’t exist. Last year, when the civil suit was filed, Casey Anthony had indicated that she would plead the fifth during the try in order to avoid testifying.
Gonzalez’s attorney, Matt Morgan stated on Thursday that Casey wasn’t going to be able to plead the fifth. “Casey Anthony will not be permitted to plead the fifth as her appeals have now been resolved.”
“We look forward to getting answers to the questions we have had for a very long time.” Morgan revealed that Anthony is expected to be deposed on October 9 and forced to answer tough questions surrounding little Caylee’s death.
Casey Anthony was charged and tried for homicide in which the prosecution was seeking the death penalty. However, on July 5, 2011 Casey Anthony was found not guilty and acquitted.
