Stacy Humphrys of West Meadows in Ipswich made a court appearance on Dec. 10, 2013, at Ipswich Crown Court due to charges of “causing a public nuisance in connection with a fatal road traffic collision. Humphrys, 27, is accused of failure to maintain control of his horses.
The charges against Humphrys stem from a serious accident on the A14 at Sproughton, which is near Ipswich. It happened on Christmas Eve 2012 and involved four vehicles and five or six loose horses.
The collisions occurred around 10:20 p.m. on Dec. 24 - Thomas Allen, 23, from Soham, suffered critical injuries and died in the hospital after the accident.
Humphrys was charged with failing to keep his horses under control and was required in court. He did not give a plea to the charge and, instead, his case was adjourned on Dec. 10 and was postponed until Feb. 7, 2014 at Ipswich Crown Court. He remains out on bail.
