Casart is a unique new wall covering company whose spirit and soul are grounded in New Orleans. They are making a 10% contribution right now to the Gulf Coast Recovery Fund from all sales of their e-commerce business though September. We thought it was fitting to highlight their efforts on the eve on the fifth anniversary of Hurricane Katrina. The company is run by Ms. Lorelei Jackson of New Orleans, with her daughters Ashley and Lindsay who now live Washington DC and Denver respectively.
Casart Coverings are durable, high-end quality that need no wallpaper paste to install. They are self-adhesive, repositionable, removable and reusable, making them easy to install, like “slipcovers for your walls,” without damaging surfaces. They have great appeal for apartment owners for this reason, as well as anyone who wants to hang their own wall covering with a minimum of clean up.
The portfolio of over 65 designs were originally hand painted by Ashley Spencer, an accomplished decorative painter and mural artist. The images and decorative finishes come in many colors and all can be custom matched to paint choices. Ashley can also do custom work from personal photos. Casart works closely with the trade, such as noted Washington DC interior designer Mary Douglas Drysdale, of Drysdale Inc. Two of her projects are included in today's slideshow.
To commemorate the 5th Anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, Casart Coverings has launched a series of new Gulf Coast inspired designs which include a design-your-own mural, using images provided and also a Crawfish Cotillion pattern. They have also recently introduced Casart Carryalls, shoulder bags and totes, with these designs. Other new designs include: Birds and Birch, Flower Power, Starfish and Star Stair Risers and a line of T3 (tots, teens and tweens) growth Charts and patterns. The Gulf Coast collection specifically will continue to provide revenues for the Relief Fund.
We applaud this intrepid artisan family for bringing art, technology, and social conscience together for the purpose of creating beautiful, personal interiors.
