The Casa Miranda Chapter Two is a new cigar from Miami Cigar & Company that debuted at this past IPCPR in Las Vegas. It has been released to the public and should be in shops by the time you read this review.
The cigar’s blend is comprised of a Nicaraguan Corojo wrapper, a Nicaraguan binder and a mix of Brazilian, Dominican and Nicaraguan filler tobaccos.
It will be released in four vitolas: a 4 1/2 x 50 Robusto,a 5 1/2 x 54 Toro, a 6 x 46 Corona Gorda, and a 6 x 60 Gran Toro.
For this review, I received a variety of pre-release cigars from Miami Cigars & Company.
Looking the cigar over, the Corojo wrapper has a dark brown color with a smooth leathery feel to the leaf. It has a slightly oily look to it and minimal, visible veins. The cap is a nicely formed triple cap. The cigar is firm to the touch with no perceptible soft spots.
There is a mild tobacco aroma from the wrapper and a pleasant cedar and tobacco scent from the foot.
The pre-light draw was easy and I picked up on a savory flavor from wrapper, along with more cedar and wood flavors from filler.
Once lit, the robusto vitola’s first puff had a strong pepper sensation on my palate and a big spice sensation in my sinuses during the exhale. This was less pronounced on the larger ring gauges.
The cigars all had a firm, gray ash and an even burn. They all produced a large amount of satisfying smoke
The flavor profile of the Casa Miranda Chapter Two had notes of woody tobacco and pepper in the first and second thirds along with a spice that was nicely balanced. The final third picked up some earthy tobacco and coffee notes. The finish was long with some sweetness and more lingering coffee flavor.
While smoking the cigar, I was trying to put my finger on the unique properties of the smoke and I can only describe it in a way that is normally used in coffee tastings. The term “bright and lively” came to my mind for these flavors as they danced across my palate.
I would consider the Casa Miranda Chapter Two to be a medium strength, full bodied cigar. It is a very enjoyable cigar with excellent flavor and burn characteristics. It’s another great cigar from Miami Cigar & Company and one I suggest you try when they arrive in your local shop.
