Looking for good authentic Filipino food here in Arizona is very hard. Filipino dishes are not as popular as their neighbor country, Japan and China. There’s only a handful of restaurants here that offers this kind of food. So far, I've been to three (3) of them and I have to say that one of my favorite is the Casa Filipina Bakeshop and Restaurant in Phoenix.
Casa Filipina is a small family-owned restaurant that offers both Filipino and American food. The restaurant is not too shabby. The food has that home-cooked feel to it so don't expect a fancy gastro-pub meal. The restaurant opened its doors to the public in September 2006. The Casa is owned and Managed by Pastry chefs/Chefs De Cuisine Tony and Tess M.
They have a variety of dishes like Chicken Inasal (chicken bbq), pancit, kare-kare, and lumpiang shanghai (egg rolls). Everything tasted great specially the ube (purple yam) cake and the ginataang bilo-bilo.
They also have an awesome a treat for all those fruit lovers out there, the famous halo-halo and their giant fruit tart. The halo-halo is made of crushed ice with mixed sweetened fruits and beans mixed with milk topped with flan and ice cream. The tart tasted so good with all the fruits creating a unique flavor.
