The Caurthersville, MO Chamber of Commerce announced two upcoming events Sept. 12. Chamber Director Amanda Irvin says they are going to be hosting the 16th annual Chili Cook-off and the 3rd annual Mistletoe Mart in October and November. The Chili Cook-off will be held Oct. 19 from 10-2 in downtown Caruthersville and the Mistletoe Mart is scheduled for Nov. 16 from 9-3 at the Caruthersville Armory.
“This will be our 16th annual chili cook-off,” Irvin, said, “It just keeps getting bigger and bigger every year.”
Vendors and chili cooking teams can sign up for a $25 fee. Mugs will be available for sale for five dollars. Those who purchase a mug can sample chili and vote for their favorites. Irvin said that there will be crafters, vendors, and many activities for children. Teams can enter chili, dessert and hot wings.
“The Mistletoe Mart is in its third year and has been a success for Christmas shoppers,” Irvin said, “We will have vendors and crafters. It is a great time to shop and get Christmas deals.” Irvin says they will have pictures with Santa that day and the “Christmas Cafe” sponsored by Southern Sisters catering. She says shoppers can take a break, have a bite to eat and rest, then resume shopping.
The vendor fee for the Mistletoe Mart is $25 for a 10 x 10 booth and $40 for a 10 x 20 booth. Irvin says that anyone who needs more information can call the Chamber at (573) 333-1222. Office hours are Monday – Friday 9 -3 and they are closed for lunch from 12-1.
