Cartoon Network is by far the most diverse and eclectic channel allowing old school and new school animations to be aired. In fact, the buzz on Huffington Post and Variety is that Powerpuff Girls- remember them? Will return to television January 20 at 7:30PM EST with 10 back to back episodes airing the day before.
That is great news to all of us who miss that kind of animation mixed with action and sweetness.
But what is on the air now?
Lately Cartoon Network has been adding the oddest shows and one must wonder if it has anything to do with cartoons at all. Robot Chicken is barely permissible because at least it is animated. But what about shows such as Incredible Crew, Level Up, and Move it Movement.
Yes, these are the few, but Saturday morning cartoons and daily cartoons should be…animated. However I do think Cartoon Network has more good for it than bad. Incredible Crew is funny because it makes no kind of sense with off the wall actors and hilarious scenarios, there are still toons that air on the channel like Looney Tunes, Johnny Bravo, and late night shows on Adult Swim like Boondocks and Toonami Japanese animations.
So as much as Cartoon Network seem to be including live humans as part of their lineup, re-introducing the world to Powerpuff Girls again is a great start to a new year.
