Carlton Gebbia debuted on the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills' fourth season last night and now, she's telling all about her thoughts on the ladies, mainly Kyle and Joyce, who both came off in strange ways during their first meeting.
"Kyle asked about our children and their unique names, she made a quip that could have been misconstrued -- but it seemed like she had a genuine interest in the story of their names, which was very warming," Carlton wrote in her first Bravo blog on November 4. "So here I am standing with Kyle and Kim and suddenly Kyle has a disagreeable reaction to something she sees. 'Oh Lord' she sighs. I turn to see three ladies who are Lisa, Yolanda and Brandi. Yet when Kyle and I approach these three girls, Kyle greets each with smiles and kisses. So admittedly that was a little confusing."
Kyle sent the invitation to Yolanda so that she could attend, but once she did, she acted as if she didn't want to see her. Then, she acted as if she did. It was confusing for everyone, but surely newcomer Carlton was immediately thrown off at the phoniness that seemed to have occurred.
While Carlton and Lisa seemed to hit it off and are currently close friends, Carlton was initially a bit put off by her obsession with her accent and why it didn't sound just like her own. "Lisa did fixate a bit on my accent until I explained that I was born in Guernsey, the Channel Islands. I lived all over England until I moved to South Africa when I was 14, finally moving back to London when I was 18… So my accent I guess does not sound the same as Lisa's," Carlton suspects. "Part English part South African, I really don't analyze it."
Either way, they are currently friends and seem to really enjoy one another at this point.
One person who Carlton had strong feelings against during episode 1 was Joyce Giraud, the other new housewife, and it was mainly because of her husband. "Immediately Joyce's husband begins to talk excitedly about how he wants a naked room so he can run around naked with his pee pee out!" she wrote. "Firstly did I just hear a grown man refer to his manliness as a 'pee pee' Eeeewww! Secondly the mere image of this 'big' man as Joyce quickly pointed out, running around naked is a horrifying visual! OK so he's an exhibitionist, which he freely admits but I say TMI! Um, I just met you."
The comments were certainly odd and seemed to make everyone uncomfortable right away.
"He then asks my son and daughters names 'Hold on..Cross?' turning his ear as if he's temporarily lost his hearing. 'That's unbelievable.' Is it Michael? Then Joyce says 'Destiny and Mysteri. I like that even better than Cross'. . .crickets!"
Both Joyce and Michael successfully put their foot in their mouth in no time flat and even for viewers, it was all a little odd.
Carlton added, "It's astonishing that this couple I just met would make such rude and tactless comments directly to me -- a mother, protector of her babes. This is by far a new kind of stupid."
