Lake level: 1.1 feet above full pool. Temperature: 78-80 degrees. Clarity: Clear with a 4-foot visibility.
The fish are scattered throughout the deep water right now. I’m trying to target open water with schools of bait that re near the surface with topwaters, jerkbaits, and swimbaits. We couldn’t catch any fish on live good bait on flatlines or downlines. I’d rather catch them on artificial anyway but it’s a bit strange. The spotted bass are mixed in with the stripers for the most part.
My choice of lures for October are topwaters like the Strike King Sexy Dawg, jerkbaits like the Spro McStick and a Spotsticker jighead tipped with a Big Bite Shaking Squirrel.
