Finally Carson Tucker has apologized to Wiccans and Pagans, sort of. If you have not seen it on television or on the internet just yet, let me be the first to tell you that his apology was exactly what most of us expected. Its brief, heartless and completely lacking of remorse. Carson Tucker's apology is actually so bad that it just further aggravates the issue. I would also like to point out that we have yet to hear from Terry Bruce who said things like “I don’t know what a Wiccan is, I might turn into one on a bad day.” The discussion between Carson and Terry about Wiccans and Pagans was a horrible portrayal of who we really are and made us out to be anti-establishment, anti-tradition and lazy.
In Carson’s brief apology he says “my comments in the story offended a number of people, that was never my intention. I also violated one of my basic life rules. Which is live and let live. The Wiccans have never bothered me and try to control my life. I should have left them alone.” He is right about one thing, he and Terry should have left us alone and the comments should have never been made or brought up. Although it is not their fault, I would also like to point out that Wiccans are Pagans, they are not separate from each other. Pagan is the umbrella that Wiccans fall under, although its possible that there are more Wiccans under this umbrella than other paths of Paganism. All Wiccans are Pagan but not all Pagans are Wiccans. No matter how you look at it, his apology was horrible. I, for one, did not expect much and am happy that he had to address it but wish that he had done so a little more sincerely. Carson Tucker and Terry Bruce, the three fold law will get you at some point.
