Carson Palmer will start for the Raiders for offseason program

Coach Dennis Allen of the Oakland Raiders has stated that quarterback Carson Palmer has been named as the starting quarterback for the Silver and Black for the offseason program.

It was reported on the Sports Out West web page on Wednesday that Allen decided to have Palmer as the starting QB for the Raiders in the offseason program over Terrelle Pryor.

“Carson is going into this offseason program as our starting quarterback,” stated Allen at an NFL’s owners meeting in Arizona, according to Sports Out West.

It is thought that Allen kept Palmer due to the fact that Palmer will get a nice hefty $13 million in 2013 and that will drive inspire the QB to have a good performance.

Last season, which was a 4-12 losing season for Oakland, Palmer carried the team with astonishing numbers. The Raiders are possibly thinking that the QB could do the same with a new defense on board.

The move was also rather shocking, as most analyst thought that Terrelle Pryor would be taking the starting position since the Raiders were cutting overpaid players. Palmer was thought to be one of those players.

Last season, in 15 games, Palmer threw for 4,018 yards with 22 touchdowns. He did have 14 interceptions thought. However, Palmer put the Raiders in eighth place in the passing game last season.
