Two of country music's bonafide superstars, Carrie Underwood and Taylor Swift, are featured heavily in a brand new commercial for this year's Billboard Music Awards. Set to go live on May 18, the show celebrates the biggest and best-selling songs and albums of the year--delivered by the platinum artists themselves. Representing the women of country, Swift and Underwood are the leaders of this generation, with music that speaks to millions of fans.
"It's everyone's dream to be at the top of this chart," says a male voiceover as images of Swift and other winners take the stage to accept their accolades. Underwood is seen belting out one of her chart-topping hits.
Swift, hot off the success of her 2012-released "Red" set, is up for Top Social Artist and Top Country Artist. Meanwhile, Underwood is up for the prestigious fan-voted Milestone Award, as she faces off against Luke Bryan, John Legend, OneRepublic, Ellie Goulding and Imagine Dragons.
As far as performers go, party-anthem hit-maker Bryan is the only country-focused artist set to take the stage on the telecast (so far).
The batch of nominees were determined through qualities of music, including album and digital singles sales, radio airplay, touring, streaming and social interactions on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, VEVO, Spotify and other outlets. Nielsen Entertainment and Next Big Sound played an integral role in reporting the measurements.
Live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, the awards show will be broadcast live on the ABC-TV Network at 8/7c.
