Carrie Underwood talks about singing with Steven Tyler on ACM Awards

Country Music star Carrie Underwood appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on April 6, 2011 and talked about her performance with Steven Tyler at the Academy of Country Music Awards on April 3. Underwood also talked about her role in the movie "Soul Surfer."

Underwood said that she and Steven Tyler had been meeting secretly for months to arrange and rehearse the number. The meeting had to be conducted in secet because they did not want word to get out that they would be performing together. Carrie said that Steven was wonderful to work with because he is so nice and has a gift for making people feel good. She was nothing but complimentary about the Aerosmith frontman and American Idol judge.

Carrie Underwood was discovered in American Idol. Leno asked for her opinion of the current contestants, but she said she does not make statement about individuals. She did say that she watches the show and that she votes. Underwood also frankly admitted thtat when she was an American Idol contestant she would go home and vote for herself, which is allowed. Leno thanked her for being honest, because many people would deny casting votes for themselves.

Carrie also talked about her marriage to hockey player, Mike Fisher, quipping that her name is now Carrie Fisher. The couple married during the summer of 2010. Mike Fisher has recently been traded to the Nashville Predators and some Canadian hockey fans have been blaming Underwood for their loss of the player, according to Underwood.

Underwood has a small role in the movie "Soul Surfer," about a surfer who loses her arm to a shark. Soul Surfer stars Dennis Quaid, Helen Hunt, AnnaSophia Robb, Kevin Sorbo and Lorraine Nicholson.

Carrie Underwood, who won the ACM Entertainer of the Year Award in 2008 and 2009, is one of the superstar women of Country Music honored at Girls' Night Out. The concert honors  Country Music stars, ncluding The Judds, Miranda Lambert, Loretta Lynn, Martina McBride, Jennifer Nettles, Reba and Carrie Underwood.
