Carrie Underwood was named the new voice of the “Sunday Night Football” theme song for the 2013 season after Faith Hill made the announcement she would not be returning after performing “Waiting All Day for Sunday Night” beginning in 2007 through the 2012 season.
The NBC Sports Network released the hilarious video featuring some of the stars of NBC auditioning for the chance to be chosen as the new voice for “Waiting All Day for Sunday Night” with the caption “Before Carrie Underwood was chosen to sing the new Sunday Night Football theme song NBC held open auditions to find their new voice."
The video includes auditions from Heidi Klum, Howie Mandel, Joan Rivers with her daughter Melissa Rivers, Matt Lauer, Savannah Guthrie, Al Roker, Natalie Morales, Jillian Michaels, Billy Bush, Ken Jeong and Craig T. Nelson taking a shot at it.
Underwood said “I am thrilled to be a part of NBC’s "Sunday Night Football" and am so honored they asked me” after the official announcement was made and added “I have always loved football season, and it is so exciting to now become part of it every Sunday night!”
Underwood’s winning version of "Waiting All Day for Sunday Night" will debut on Sept. 8, 2013 on NBC when the Dallas Cowboys face off against the New York Giants
