Carrie Underwood’s brand new song, “Cowboy Casanova,” has become the fastest rising song on the country radio charts for 2009.
It is also fastest climbing country single of her career. This week the record rocketed to number 11 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart just one week after its official airplay impact date of September 14, 2009.
"Cowboy Casanova" is the first single from Underwood’s anxiously awaited third album, Play On, which releases November 3, 2009. Carrie Underwood fans can download the new hit song “Cowboy Casanova” with the recent release of the digital single on music download services like Apple's Itunes.
Fans will get their first look at the official video for "Cowboy Casanova" on October 2, 2009 on CMT - Country Music Television during an event being called "CMT's Big New Music Weekend."
Underwood’s digital singles have consistently been fan favorites, with nine singles from her Carnival Ride and Some Hearts albums certified Gold, Platinum, or multi-Platinum for downloads.
In the September 19, 2009 issue of Billboard, a review of "Cowboy Casanova" stated that “Country (radio program director's) have been anxious to get their hands on new Carrie Underwood music.” The statement was accurate when in less than 7 days after the official release of the song to country radio, 100% of the Nielsen BDS country chart reporting stations have already started playing the song.
The immediate response is a testament both to Underwood and to an incredible song. Billboard magazine went on to state that, “Underwood shines on this steamy upbeat number, which she penned with Brett James and Mike Elizondo. Mark Bright’s production is taut and packs a punch in all the right places.”
A four-time GRAMMY Award winner, ACM Entertainer of the Year, and reigning, three-time CMA and ACM Female Vocalist winner, Underwood is continuing work on her new album Play On. She has once again teamed with Mark Bright, who produced her Carnival Ride cd as well as seven tracks from Some Hearts. There is also a rumor that a more "rock" song will be included that was produced by someone other than Bright.
The original "leaked" version of "Cowboy Casanova" which aired on a radio station in Seattle, WA actually had a more pop feel to it and is rumored to be a remixed version of the song that is entended for radio airplay by Top 40 and Pop stations.
The artwork for the cd single of "Cowboy Casanova" also shows a more edgy-looking Underwood which is taken from the photo below:
