Carrie Underwood is having a baby.
On Monday, Sept. 1, the country star announced, via social media, she was expecting a child with husband Mike Fisher. This is the first child for both Underwood and Fisher.
“In honor of ‘Labor’ Day, Ace & Penny would like to make an announcement. Their parents couldn't be happier…” Underwood wrote on Instagram, according to a Sept. 1 report by Us Weekly. Along with the post was a photo of Underwood and her two dogs, with shirts that read, "I'm going to be a big brother" and "I'm going to be a big sister."
Within the first two hours, the photo was liked by nearly 100,000 followers.
On Twitter, Fisher commented on the news, telling fans, “We haven't picked names yet but it's looking like Fly is gonna fly. #boyorgirl #flyfisher.”
Underwood and Fisher began dating in 2008 and became engaged in Dec. 2009. On July 10, 2010, Underwood and Fisher tied the knot at The Ritz-Carlton Lodge in Greensboro, Georgia, with over 250 people in attendance.
A rep for Underwood also confirmed the news with Us Weekly. No word yet on the gender of the child or on the child's due date.
