Carrie Underwood gushes on hubby, apologizes at American Country Awards

The 2nd annual American Country Awards took place in Las Vegas on Monday, December 5, 2011.   Though Carrie Underwood did a spectacular job of hosting the CMAs in November, for this show, she was able to take a break from her hosting duties and just enjoy being one of the nominees.  And enjoy it, she did!  Of the four nominations Carrie Underwood received, she walked away with three wins.

Carrie Underwood's first win of the night was for Single of the Year for Mama's Song.  The song, which was co-written by Carrie Underwood is a letter of sorts to her mother, letting her know that it's okay to let go of her little girl because the man she's chosen treats her with love and respect.  Though with the first win, Carrie Underwood thanked God and her fans, later in the evening, she would gush to the very guy she wanted her mother to entrust her to, her husband of 17 months, NHL player Mike Fisher.

When Carrie Underwood's name was announced as winner of Female Artist of the Year, after she'd already won both Single of the Year and Music Video of the Year by a Female for Mama's Song, she took the stage, a bit flabbergasted to receive her third Fender guitar award of the evening.

As she approached the mic once again, Carrie Underwood began by saying, "You guuuyyys....Once again, thank you fans...the fan club, you guys vote like crazy. We thank God for you every single day of our lives."  She went on to gush to her husband, Mike Fisher saying, "I love you. I miss you," but then quickly followed it up with a lighthearted, "His teammates are going to make fun of him for that one. Sorry, Babe."  Somehow, you have to believe Mike Fisher will be forgiving of his beautiful bride because after all, as the George Strait song goes, she looks so good in love.  Though her career alone is reason to celebrate, Carrie Underwood definitely seems to have found the peak of happiness with her guy and it's good to see good things continue to happen to such a nice lady.

In her closing remarks of the night, Carrie Underwood promised fans an amazing 2012.   She is currently at work on her fourth album, so we can assume that the project is going well and that Carrie is looking forward to sharing it with her fans.  From the looks of her 3 ACA wins on Monday night, fans will be equally excited for the upcoming album release.
