It happens to the best of us – falling down. But it makes the news when a celebrity does it before thousands of adoring fans on stage, at the Oscars, or just about anywhere. According to Yahoo! News on Friday, it happened to the incredibly popular singer Carrie Underwood during a Thursday night performance in Corpus Christi, Texas.
As Underwood was singing with musicians in the background, she took a few steps back as she danced energetically to the beat, and there she went… The culprit was obviously her outfit. She was wearing 5-inch stiletto heels and a long white top which hung very low in back. As she was dancing with backsteps, she bent backward enough to let the top she was wearing reach her raised left heel. When top and heel met, she fell on her derriere. Though there was no way to gracefully recover, she attempted by raising an arm as if to reply to the incident as “I’m ok.” The former “American Idol” star got up, and Carrie carried on with the show.
The end result, however, was that she was injured. After the show, she was in a cast but rejoiced that the leg had not been broken.
After the incident, Underwood brought humor to the incident by messaging on Twitter via her @carrieunderwood account:
Hey, remember that time in Corpus Christi when that girl buster her butt on stage?! Hilarious! Oh wait, that was me! #5inchheels #klutz
Sometime after that, she light-heartedly messaged with a pic of her left leg in a cast:
Good news, it’s not broken…AND I got some new footwear!
This weekend, Underwood will debut on NBC’s “Sunday Night Football, replacing Faith Hill, as she sings the theme song.
