NASHVILLE, Tenn., March 19, 2013 - Six-time Grammy winner Carrie Underwood is used to not being able to have much of a personal life since fame and fortune bombarded the singer just a short eight years ago. However, it appears there was one secret she kept under wraps over the past year. In a recent interview with The Sun, Underwood exposes her secret of wearing braces at the beginning of last year.
"I wore braces at the beginning of last year for three months and no one knew," she says.
On the art of public criticism, Underwood admits to getting booed at a concert for her vegetarian lifestyle. "I got booed for saying I was a vegetarian in Nebraska," she explains. "It’s a big livestock area, I’m still not sure how it came up."
If you ask Underwood if she ever gets embarrassed, she might find it hard to come up with an example, but she does confess it happens on occasion. "I don’t get embarrassed easily," she notes. "But I was on stage once in Yakima, Washington, and I said Yamaha instead of Yakima." She quickly adds with a smirk, "That’s the only time I ever messed up. But they laughed, they were with me."
Of course, with the pressure of the celebrity status comes a high risk of a wide range of emotions, including those involving tears. However, the 30-year-old admits to crying but only at movies. "I seem to cry a lot on planes when I watch movies," she quips. "I think it has something to do with the pressure and the funky air. I watched the latest 'Twilight' and I’ll admit that I got a little misty."
If, perchance, the singer ever had to put on a dinner party, she says she would love to invite the late Freddie Mercury to her dinner table -- you know, if we lived in the Twilight Zone. "I grew up listening to Queen and I feel like he lived such a crazy life and would be a lot of fun," she says. "Any early president would be cool. And some crazy old cowboy like Billy the Kid."
