Carrie Underwood announced her engagement to Mike Fisher over the weekend. Mike Fisher, 29, is the center for the Ottawa Senators and asked Carrie to marry him this weekend, and she accepted. The couple has been dating for about a year.
"I’m happy to confirm that Carrie Underwood is engaged to Mike Fisher, and the couple couldn’t be happier," according to a statement from Carrie Underwood’s rep. "No wedding date has been set at this time."
The news was actually on Mike’s twitter page last night when a family member congratulated him. And the Ottawa Sun newspaper confirmed the news with Mike. "It's true," Mike told the Ottawa Sun. "We're both obviously excited and very happy."
Underwood, 26, included a thank you note to Mike in the insert in her album, Play On. "Thank you #12," she wrote about his jersey number. "You are the most amazing addition to my life! You are such a wonderful person and have had such an amazing hand in the building of this album and in the growth of me as a person. I love you so much! You make my life better in every way! I thank God for you every day. ... xoxo, Carrie."
The buzz on this story is hot today, because the couple just announced their engagement and fans are happy for both of them.
