Carrie Fisher return: Princess Leia to return in 'Star Wars Episode VII'

A Carrie Fisher return? It is true, as Renegade Cinema reported on March 6 that Fisher is coming back for "Star Wars: Episode VII" in her classic role as Princess Leia.

The confirmation came in a newspaper interview where she said "yes" when asked if she was returning to play Princess Leia in the new "Star Wars" movie. Now, it is time to wait to see if Harrison Ford will be back as Han Solo and Mark Hamill will return as Luke Skywalker. If the three of them return, it will help set up the storyline where their kids start off on their own adventures.

Fisher rose to fame in the original "Star Wars" trilogy before she began to take on smaller roles in movies like "When Harry Met Sally" and "Scream 3." She even spoofed herself in the Kevin Smith movie "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back." However, despite her numerous appearances in movies and television shows, Fisher was never able to shake her role as Princess Leia.

Mark Hamill was in a similar situation, although he achieved fame with his voice work as The Joker in the "Batman" animated movies and TV shows. Now, with the Carrie Fisher return, both Hamill and Fisher can return to the franchise that made them stars to help move it into the new generation.
