Carrie Ann Inaba's father passed away only five days before this season's "Dancing with the Stars" premiere took place live on ABC on Monday. In fact, Inaba's March 19 style blog on People was dedicated to the dad of the "DWTS" judge.
Carrie Ann spoke of the recent death of Rodney Y. Inaba, the man who has always been in her life and the man who even helped fashion her sartorial leanings. She said that she dedicated the premiere show to her dad "...in gratitude for all that he taught me about life; for his bravery, his courage, his huge heart and his love for the underdog."
Although Inaba said it was tough for her to get through "Dancing with the Stars" on Monday, she didn't show any signs of being anything but her typical exuberant and articulate self, also a tribute to her parent who passed away the morning of March 14.
In fact, the brave television personality whose dad had just died said that she felt his "spirit" there with her while she critiqued the first dances of the "DWTS" season.
This ballroom dancing expert also said she felt the patriarch of her family "supporting" her and "cheering" her on as she went through her job's paces no matter the circumstances.
And so, after Carrie Ann Inaba gave her father a proper send-off, she continues to do so. She emulates Rodney Y. Inaba, a man who was also passionate about animals just as his daughter is. That said, like her, he once took to the ballroom to glide across the floor. He did this when he served in the armed forces, probably in his own distinctive style that was far more personal than one meant for a television dancing competition.
RIP, Rodney Y. Inaba, RIP.
