Golf Magazine reports that the couple’s engagement should put to rest rumors of an imminent split. The couple started dating in the summer of 2011, and has always shown public affection for each other.
The golf pro has been heavily criticized by fans who complain that his relationship with Wozniacki affects his game. McIlroy, for his part, dismisses the critics.
“I don't care what people say about my golf,” he said. “It's when people start digging into my personal life, that's where it starts to annoy you -- whether it's Caroline, whether it's management, all that stuff shouldn't be a consequence to how I play my golf.”
McIlroy is set to play in the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship in January.
