Caroline McGowan is Miss Linn-Benton County no more.
Caroline was crowned Miss Oregon 2011 Saturday night at closing ceremonies at Seaside Convention Center.
She will travel throughout Oregon to advocate her platform, “Eating Disorder Awareness: Empowerment through Attitude.”
She will also lend a hand to the Children’s Miracle Network of Hospitals, plus other good causes supported by the Miss America Organization and Miss Oregon Scholarship Program.
According to her official biography on the Miss Linn-Benton County website, Caroline attends Oregon State University, where she hopes to earn a bachelor’s degree in new media communications.
Among her scholastic honors are, “Oregon State University Honor Roll; Recipient of Delta Gamma Certificate of Academic Excellence; completion of the Kurz Programm at Europa-Kolleg in Kassel, Germany; completed Fashion Merchandising and Design program at Central Campus in Des Moines, Iowa.”
Her accomplishments include, “Held multiple leadership positions for sorority including: Current Vice President: Programming, All University SING! Leader, Chapter Management Team member; former Director of Alumnae Relations; former Vice President of Bella Voce Women's Choir at OSU; Nominated as Delta Gamma representative and won title of "Miss Minerva" for Sigma Alpha Epsilon's philanthropy week supporting Children's Miracle Network; Organized and recognized National Eating Disorder Awareness Week for sorority chapter; Foreign exchange student in Kassel, Germany in Summer 2010.”
And, who knows? Come January, she may add Miss America 2012 to her list of accomplishments.
