Caroline Berg Eriksen abs Instagram: Post-birth selfie ignites critics

Caroline Berg Eriksen assumed an Instagram photo of her post-pregnancy body would inspire moms to take back their bodies. Instead, the sexy selfie of the Norwegian fitness trainer, which shows off abs of steel just days after delivering her child, has set off a backlash of haters, according to a Dec. 2 ABC news report.

Berg Eriksen is the spouse to Norway football player, Lars-Kristian Eriksen. However, the fitness instructor has one of, if not the most popular, blogs in the country. And when Caroline Berg Eriksen posts something on Instagram -- especially a selfie in a fire-red bra and black panties -- people take notice.

Little did she know that a seemingly benign photo of her body, mere days after giving birth, would ignite a wave of vitriol on the World Wide Web.

On Dec. 2, flurries of comments were left on Web Instagram, and judging by the ongoing conversation, the feelings about Caroline's post-baby body are mixed.

Thatonefitgirl wrote this of Caroline Berg Eriksen: "I bet if this was a picture of an overweight saggy skinned woman posting her picture just as proudly everyone would go nuts with the 'you look fantastic' and 'you're an inspiration'. But no, a woman that had worked hard before and during a pregnancy that had a body bounce back gets hated on."

Monie_xo said: "I'm not a hater .. But 4 days after giving birth impossible!!! I had a friend who took card of her body before and after pregnancy and NO WAY she looked like that after 4 days..she had to have a tummy tuck

Mssylvester was short and to the point and said: "Look at this mess. @kezzie_a1 4 days? Really though?"

Lionelsam applauded Caroline Berg Eriksen, saying this: "This is great, I'm tired of women using pregnancy as an excuse to get fat and have no accountability for their actions or physical appearances. This proves that if your[sic] disciplined and work hard, that you don't have to get fat just because your[sic] bringing a life into this world. Congrats on your new addition!"

And Carleen_maree was in the critic corner. They said, "Good on her and everything but it's not realistic. Makes real, normal Mums feel bad about themselves because she's boasting about it, you know? Post partum bodies shouldn't be something to be ashamed of but I and I'm sure a lot of others find it hard not to be with pictures like this getting around at the moment. But I personally would rather spend my time bonding and establishing feeding and loving my baby, rather than working my arse off just to get a six pack."

Berg Eriksen said she posted the post-pregnancy selfie because she "missed her baby bump." Moreover, during her pregnancy, there were some people who didn't believe she could lose the 22 pounds of baby fat and regain her chiseled body.

So, she used the pressure from naysayers as a motivational tool. Now, she wants to inspire other mommies-to-be that they can do anything if they put their minds to it...with the help of skinny genes.

So, was the Caroline Berg Eriksen selfie out of line or taken out of context?
