Carolina Rebellion version 3.0… what’s new?
Just to name a few things, expanded to 2 full days. New location needed to accommodate the growing demand. The 2013 festival will be held at Charlotte motor Speedway in Concord NC this May. Last year the Rockingham location was good and served as a central location drawing from close by metropolitan markets.
With record attendance of over 30,000 it became obvious that this festival was a big hit, and a new location was needed to accommodate 2 full days of head lining acts. The expectations are that Charlotte Motor Speedway will offer the best venue for crowds exceeding last year’s number of 30,000.
The upcoming rebellion will include many new artists, drawing in a wider range of musical taste. North Carolina will have a visit from Grunge kings Soundgarden featuring the return of Chris Cornell, David Draiman (Formerly of Disturbed) has chosen to tour with Device, his latest project. Alice in Chains will also perform, minus Layne Staley.
Limp Bizkit will be making somewhat of a home coming, vocalist Fred Durst was born in Gastonia. The addition of Rise Against will be a nice bonus, as they recently dropped off the Warped tour and by-passed Charlotte last year. Maybe the highlight for many die-hard fans is appearance of the Deftones, a SoCal based band that is not a frequent visitor to the Carolinas. They recently released their 7th studio album, Koi No Yokan.
In summary, this is the fastest growing festival in the area and is not to be missed by any true rock fan. The festival environment is a true experience, and if you really want to immerse your self in the event, plan to camp out, ensuring that you won’t miss a thing!
