Russ Irwin told Radar Online that "RHONY" Carole Radziwill wanted to date other people and he wanted to settle down in an interview published on March 13. Irwin says he told Carole he wanted to get married, settle down and have a family with her. According to Russ, Carole told him she never wanted to get married again.
Radziwill and Irwin dated on and off for three years, but the author of “The Widow’s Guide to Sex and Dating” wasn’t interested in a committed relationship, rather she wanted to date other people. Radziwill’s husband Anthony succumbed to cancer in 1997 just weeks after his cousin John F. Kennedy, Jr. tragic death. Anthony’s mother was Lee Bouvier Radziwill, the sister of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis.
In the interview Russ Irwin said that the couple had a special bond and he was sad when they broke up. Ultimately Carole wanted her independence and did not want to be tied down or answer to anyone every day. He believes that Radziwill was afraid to get close to anyone because she did not want to get again.
Contrary to Radziwill’s description of their break-up, Irwin says that he and Carole have remained cordial. “I support her and care about her very much. I wish her nothing but the best,” he said.
