The Carol of Lights Run is still on for this Sunday, December 8th on the Texas Tech campus. The event starts at 6:30pm and gives participants an opportunity to enjoy the Christmas lights decorating the campus and carolers serenading them throughout the course. West Texas Endurance is monitoring the weather but with warm temperatures on Sunday, the event looks to be another great one.
If you haven’t registered yet, there’s still time. The cost is $20 for children 12 and under and $30 for ages 13 and up and includes a long-sleeved t-shirt. This race includes a 1-mile run/walk option or a 5k. Both courses start from Memorial Circle. The 5k course winds around the Tech campus finishing on the Jones Stadium field. And the best part (to me) is you get to celebrate your finish with a cup of hot chocolate at the finish line. Strollers are welcome at this event, but stroller runners are asked to line up at back to ease congestion. Participants also have the opportunity to donated toys or games for the children of the Bridge of Lubbock.
Packet pickup and late registration will be at Cardinals Friday, December 6th from 4pm to 6pm and Saturday, December 7th from 1 pm to 3pm. If you’re worried about the weather, there will also be race day registration from 5pm to 6:15pm.
This event is a great way to celebrate the season with the whole family.
